About the Event: This book club is an opportunity to read, reflect, and connect. Through facilitated conversation, we will explore themes from We Will Not Cancel Us. Together, we’ll discuss what becomes possible when we move beyond blame and punishment to approaches rooted in curiosity, relationship, and repair. The event will also include opportunities to learn about relevant supports and resources, and connect with others who are interested in creating more accountable, caring, and transformative ways of being together.

About CJI: Community Justice Initiatives is a non-profit organization that offers restorative services alongside the community to meet healing, justice, and safety needs across continuums of harm, conflict, crime, and wrongdoing. We envision a Waterloo Region where justice is reclaimed as a restorative community practice rooted in accountability, dignity, consent, and repair.
Community Care and Participation: We want this to be a space where people can participate with dignity, curiosity, and care. We welcome different perspectives, thoughtful disagreement, questions, and opportunities to learn from one another. Language or behaviour that is hateful, discriminatory, harassing, threatening, or demeaning can cause harm and may affect someone’s ability to participate safely. If concerns arise, we will seek to respond thoughtfully and, where possible, support understanding, accountability, and repair. At times, maintaining the safety and wellbeing of the group may require us to set boundaries around participation or ask someone to step away from the space.
