Home Share is a living arrangement between two or more people. The Home Provider offers accommodation in exchange for a contribution to the household expenses and possible help around the home. This mutually beneficial living arrangement is intended to connect people in need of affordable housing with a compatible Home Provider. Our program can also help with co-housing, which helps find compatible matches for two people looking to share a rental space.
CJI facilitates Home Share relationships to help find a compatible match and promotes safety and effective conflict resolution. Home sharing could be right for you!
One of CJI’s newest projects is Open Homes. Open Homes has a rich history in Kitchener-Waterloo through a grassroots movement of volunteers who were committed to housing and welcoming refugee claimants. Much of the history of Open Homes is rooted in the Mennonite community and CJI is committed to furthering the work of these committed community members.
Open Homes is a community of people (“hosts”) who offer medium term housing for refugees and live in community with refugees, offering a place of safety, warmth, and relationship for people newly arrived in our community (“guests”).
