Where families have been impacted by criminal charges, VORP and YRJP offer opportunities for addressing the harm caused through a restorative process led by CJI facilitators. This service is generally not available in situations involving intimate partner violence.
When a youth has been charged with causing harm to their parent or caregiver and is referred to the Youth Restorative Justice Program, the restorative process most often used will be conflict coaching with the young person. A restorative practitioner will work one-to-one with the youth to explore their accountability and choices.
